Slept until noon. Still on New York time I guess. It’s a sea day and we’re sailing to Alexandria, Egypt.
We grab a quick lunch and then attend a talk about everything you need to know about going ashore in Egypt. The Egyptians were the first to domesticate cats, even worshipped them a little. The invented makeup. They perfected methods of brewing beer. I think me and the Egyptians will get along just fine.
Then it was off to a champagne art auction. Michael Godard, apparently the best selling artist in the United States, was onboard and sold many pieces at the auction. We decided against buying one (for now at least) opting to check Ebay instead.
After the art auction, we went to tea and chatted up a lovely old lady from the UK and a young woman from Phoenix.
It was formal night so we went back to our room to get super snazzy. We took a bunch of pictures, drank free champagne and laughed at the Captain’s jokes. Then we joined my mom for dinner. I had the filet mignon. It was excellent.
At dinner, we talked extensively with a young couple from Canada about the differences in the health care and justice systems in our respective countries.
Later on, we have a couple of martinis at the piano bar. The ship is listing quite noticeably at this point and I think I’m starting to feel a little seasick (I never get seasick) so I think I’m going to stop here.
One more day at sea and then we land in Egypt. Can’t wait.
